Have you read Stanley Cavell's book "The Senses of Walden"? I read Walden and Senses together every couple of years and am the better for it. Cavell's book is a close and deep reading of Walden, one that wrestles with writing as a vocation, America's footing, and what it means to build something, whether it be a house or a sentence. And it's such a beautiful piece of writing.
Thank you, Steve! I read your book last spring and loved it, Steve. I pulled it off the shelf just the other day, thinking I may benefit from a re-read this summer. Love your work. Be well!
Way cool. Writer-in-Residence at the Concord Free Library this spring. Practically right down the street. Fabulous. Congrats. 📚👏
I keep an office hour in the common on Fridays at noon! Come say hi!
Glorious.
🙏🙏
I feel this way about Desert Solitaire. Life-changing book. Thanks for your posts, Steve! I look forward to them every week.
Love Desert Solitaire! 🙌🙌

Thanks so much, Andy! I can't tell you how nice it feels to know that people I really respect still find value in that book!
Yours is one of the best memoirs I've read, Steve. Happy to revisit this excerpt today.
🙏🙏🙏 Grateful!!
